Seminars The CLCC seminars are continuing to grow in popularity as more and more
people learn of our offerings. In just the months of Jan and Feb we have presented
seminars in five different states and reached well over 200 people with two of our
seminar topics. Three new states were added to our growing list of presentations. In
May, we will be presenting our first seminar in the state of Ohio, our latest addition to
the increasing number of states where we have made presentations. Your congregation
could also be on the list. Check it out!!

Also, we have announced in January our new seminar on Organizational Structure of
LCMS Churches. This seminar comes in three lessons; please see the Website for
more details. Anyone, member or not, can download the PDF handouts for this seminar.
Member congregations can receive the PowerPoint versions of the seminar for use in
their own congregations. We have initial plans already to add a fourth lesson to the
seminar having a working title of Financial Management for Congregations. While some
parts of the lessons are focused on LCMS congregations, much of the content is
universally applicable to any Lutheran congregation, particularly a confessional one.

In the review process is another new seminar having a working title of Witnessing to
Jehovah’s Witnesses. This should be available by summer, so watch for future
announcements.

Other Matters The Board of Directors, in a meeting held in December 2009, approved
the 2010 budget. The budget contained increases in the amounts of travel and seminar
expenses as our offerings and regional instructor’s capabilities have increased. The
plan is to add at least three new instructors during 2010, as well as increase the number
of seminar topics our existing instructors can present.

CLCC Retreat We had our first retreat at Lutheran Island Camp in Henning, MN on Feb
26-27. Rev Dr Karl Weber taught the retreat which was called “Lutheran Difference:
Gifts of the Liturgy”. We had 11 people present for this retreat format, but we were a
good group and all learned something, I’m sure. Good discussions were held, too. I
want to thank Pastor Weber for all the work he went into preparing for it. It was great
that Pr Jarvis was able to lead Compline Service at the end of Friday evening for
everyone staying at camp, and that was mainly youth groups from all over the state. It
was a nice way to end the day for everyone there. Thank you, Pr Jarvis.

April 2010 CLCC will be manning a table at the ACL Conference in Bloomington, MN at
the Ramada-Mall of America from April 21-23 to display a broad array of our offerings.
CLCC members will be gathering one evening during this week.

We will also be conducting two seminars in MN as bookends to the Conference.
Please try to attend one if in your area!

April 17-Worship and Divine Service- Peace Lutheran Church - Finlayson, MN
April 24-Evangelism, Outreach, and Assimilation - Hosanna Lutheran Church, Buffalo,
MN

Membership Drive It is becoming increasingly obvious that we need to increase our
membership base and increase our PR in new areas of the country, in order to increase
the number of seminars we do. We need all of our members to seek like-minded people
in their own congregation or others in the area, to join CLCC. Note: Member
congregations will get a license to receive source files of any of our seminars for use in
their own congregation. That membership fee is $200.00 annually. Can you, as an
individual member, initiate conversations within your own congregation to seek
congregational membership? Remember also, that a member congregation can elect
two delegates to CLCC conventions, one clergy and one lay. Our next convention is
2012, which is not that far away. We also need a member to help coordinate these
activities so we don’t step on each other’s toes in our recruiting efforts. Would someone
please volunteer for this? A load shared is not a heavy load. To be discussed at the
next BOD meeting, set for March 22.

CLCC welcomes Grace Lutheran Church, San Mateo, CA as a new member
congregation. This decision was made after we conducted a seminar there.

From the Treasurer I want to remind everybody once again to renew their 2010
membership. Some did this in 2009 before I left for the CA seminar tour. I am home in
March, so please try to get your checks in by the end of March (overdue at that point) so
your check can be processed before I pack up and leave for MN, right after Easter. We
have also received about five new members in the past couple of months, so we are
growing in this area, but not as fast as we need to as a viable long-range organization.
The level of donations has continued to grow, which is one of the biggest reasons the
organization is staying in the black, which we have done from the day we started.
Praise only to our Gracious Father!!!

Gene and Deanna White will be moving in July to McMinnville, OR and will be setting up
new email and mailing addresses for contact soon, including for Treasurer Activities.
New and old email addresses will be working until sometime in July.
